JSCC RAS (Joint Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences) is non-profit research institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was founded in 1996 by joint decision of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Russian Federation Ministry of Science and Technologies, Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) as a state scientific institution. The center provides researchers from scientific institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and federal scientific centers with modern computational, telecommunication and informational resources.

JSCC RAS is the most powerful supercomputer center in Russia in science and education and it is one of the 100 most powerful computer centers in the World. JSCC RAS is the core of Russian infrastructure which consolidates federal, regional and specialized centers into one integrated system using GRID technologies. Technically and functionally JSCC RAS corresponds leading EU computer centers.

JSCC RAS provides facilities to Russian scientists who are solving problems that require large amount of computations and data processing. JSCC RAS develops e-infrastructure for Russian science and education and provides its interaction with similar EU structures.

Among JSCC facilities there is MVS-100K supercomputer with peak performance of 227,94 Teraflops. Over the years, JSCC has served more than 2,000 researchers from 150 academic, government and industrial institutions in the Russian Federation and around the world. Today, these scientists and engineers increasingly rely on the availability of globally accessible data electronic infrastructure tools to drive research and education. The focus on data e-infrastructure provides a broad and useful spectrum of integrated technologies to support increasingly complex, large-scale and cooperative scientific endeavors.

The Center supports and develops federal network of the RAS and Moscow region backbone network of the RAS (BN RAS). BN RAS is an experimental segment of the federal RAS network. It provides access to computational and informational resources and scientific facilities for RAS institutions at 1-10 Gbps rate. The Center represents Russian NREN (National Research and Educational Network) in GÉANT project for development of the multi-gigabit pan-European backbone network for science and education. The Center is connected to GÉANT network by 10 and 2.5 Gbps links (primary and backup) and provides connectivity between Russian NREN and GÉANT.

JSCC RAS has created Russian Infrastructure for Supercomputer Applications (RISA) - Russian supercomputing Grid research infrastructure for efficient use of high performance distributed computer recourses of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and support of e-Science.

JSCC is led by academician, professor Gennady Savin. Director of JSCC is a leading scientist in information technologies and mathematical modeling.

Deputy director - Boris Shabanov, specialist in designing of hardware and software solutions for supercomputers.

JSCC staff consists of high qualified scientists, programmers and engineers. At present JSCC employ 84 person.

To solve complex problems in various areas of science and technology JSCC form temporary creative groups from prominent mathematicians and experienced programmers.

Along with data electronic infrastructure tools, JSCC also offers users full-time support including code optimization, training, help desk services, portal development and a variety of other services.

JSCC acts as sub-faculties for the following universities: Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Moscow Institute for Electronically Technics (MIET), Moscow State Institute for Radiotechnics, Electronics and Automation (MIREA) and teaches more then 70 students.

Strategic partnership was established with Moscow State University, where, by join efforts, educational computational complex was founded.
